Google Building a Data Centre in Space?
LettsCartoon: Icarus would be impressed, David Attenborough perhaps a bit less.
Google has announced they are building a solar powered data centre in space. The AI search outfit admit that their initial beta could be a bit buggy, which might not not be ideal for the people working there, but, they hope, could lead to more robust versions they can litter, er populate the skies with en masse.
An unconfirmed spokesperson (that might actually be a bot) stated that it could also help with their AI-blamed reduction in force programme.
Meanwhile, objections could be raised by astronomers concerned that rising numbers of satellites in low orbit are “like bugs on a windshield” when they are trying to peer into the universe?!
Who said pollution should be the preserve of earth alone?
And for those of you who like your LettsCartoon in real life - we have one of these too.
